Often learners put their trust in teachers to guide and help them along seek their own path in life. This is a wonderful opportunity for the teacher to be ” in service to the student”.
To be in service to the student means you have no desire to change them, or their life. You love and except the student the way he or she is. The student is responsible for his or her own choices, decisions, and results.
Teaching with an agenda to change someone or make someone “better” interferes with self acceptance. The teacher may want the best for the student, but the teacher’s best might come with an agenda that the student should be different from who they are. Teaching with an agenda is not a reflection of love and acceptance. The students journey in life will be a happy one when they learn to accept responsibility and change.
